The End.

Every good things come to an end. Every bad things come to an end. Everything come to an end. But we have a good run. We have a good time. Just remember, people will do everything just to have smidgen of those. That was that.

Let me enjoy this last cup of coffee before I leave this place. Maybe I will see you again on the other side. Until the moment come, go make me some Lompat tikam.

Bunga selasih permainan budak,
daun sehelai dimakan kuda,
bercerai kasih bertalak tidak,
seribu tahun bertemu juga.

Good day,

In Memory of “Mok Kadok”

Quote of the Day

“You can mess with the people but you can’t mess with a mother protecting her family”

“Tangan yang mengoncang buaian bisa mengoncang dunia”

You don’t believe me? Political perspective aside, see what Kak Wan did. She should win a noble price or something. Cost me thousand of hours to read about what has her been through in the cybersapce. But it was really inspired.

I am really grateful because God awards me with a great mother and grandmothers. Al-Fatihah to my grandmother, Hjh Wan Jah Wan Ali. I miss her. I still remember the day that I was mad to my parents because did not pick me up from the hostel to see her in the hospital. She was sick after came back from Mecca. I did not see her for 2 months because she was in Mecca. When I got the opportunity to see her, she was already gone. Gone, to meet her Al-Mighty Maker.

I came in to the house and went directly to Mok Nah’s room and sat in front of her. Her body lied stiff and was covered with white fabric except her face. I just watched her face. Pale and peaceful I would describe. I felt a little bit of happiness to see her peaceful face. She did not seem to be suffered. I recited some Al-Quran phrases, warm tears ran. Some good memories that I have with her circled in my thought. Everybody watched me, they whispered to each other. “That is her grandchild”.

This short story, I still remember and will always remember. Just like her, always remember us, her grandchilds. In Mecca, she bought us gemstones. Everybody got one. Mine, is still there. The stone is shining and still strongly attached to the silver ring. Even if the gemstone break like a clay, I will keep this kind of memories for a long time, InsyaAllah.

To my brothers and sister, always do good deed and dedicate the reward to our grandparents, ancestor and our family that was already gone. I always forget to do that but i know all of you will never disappoint them.

“Apabila mati seseorang anak Adam, putuslah amalannya kecuali tiga perkara, sedekah jariah, ilmu yang diambil orang manfaatnya atau anak soleh yang mendoakannya.”

Hadis Rasulullah S.A.W

‘Dan hendaklah berbuat baik kepada ibu bapa. Jika salah seorang di antara keduanya atau kedua-duanya sampai berusia lanjut dalam jagaanmu, maka sekali-kali janganlah engkau mengatakan kepada keduanya perkataan ‘ah’ dan janganlah engkau membentak keduanya, dan ucapkanlah keduanya perkataan yang baik’

( Al-Isra’: 23)

I dedicate this song to Hjh Zainab Bakar, Hjh Aminah Mat Akib, Zawahil Nor, Maziati Mazlan and every mother in this world. To Hj. Lazim and Hj. Nor, I’ll find another song, a masculine one for both of you another time. hahahaha.

Good Day,

Hafzan Lazim

Ahlan ya Ramadhan.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadhan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.”

(Book #2, Hadith #37)

We indeed need Ramadhan. because somehow we have forgotten Allah, because we are too busy with dunya, because our heart is too dark and gloomy.

Let us benefit from this Ramadhan as in this is the last!

"O Allah
make us and all Muslims of those who fast and stand in prayer
during the month of Ramadhan
based on belief and truly seeking Your reward
so that we are forgiven our past and future sins.
O Allah
make us of those who fasted the month,
attained full reward, witnessed Layatul-Qadr and attained success
by permission of the Lord, Blessed and Most High.
O Allah,
verily you are Forgiver,
like to forgive, so forgive us.
O Lord,
accept from us,
verily you are the All-Hearing, all-Seeing, O Living,
O Independent, O Owner of all majesty and honor.
And may Allah's blessings and peace be upon Muhammad,
his family and his Companions

p/s: Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan Abah, Maa and semua!

Summer vacation 2

I could not help myself to write some more after being commented motivated  by my brother.. huhuhu..

the Santa Justa Festival

On the way back to hostel after having our dinner, we found this religious festival or may I say it as marching? The festival is called Santa Justa & Rufina. Please read the story about them here. I believe that Justa and Rufina had hold tight to the faith of Tauhid and they were tortured to death before they are highly seen as a goddess or some sort of angels by the fellow people who does not understand who Justa and Rufina actually worship. That is how I see them.. What do you think of this issue?

This is Bullfighting Ring “La Maestranza”. It used to be a famous bullfighting ring. However, I was told that this bullfighting practice is no longer being held there because it really against the animals’ right, to hurt them just for fun. However it is not totally abolished because when I was in Granada I did see the bullfighting advertisement pasted throughout the city.

in front of the gold tower

Torre del Oro” which means gold tower is a trademark for Servilla. It is an Arab monument which is used to be covered by gold. The function of this building was to prevent enemy’s ships to go to upstream the Servilla port, by putting a chain across the river. Perhaps it is kind of similar to the Pahang warriors’ tactics to fight the British army. However, it is not to prevent their rival to use the river, but to turn boats upside down by using a rope tied across the river!

Plaza de España is also a must go place if you visit Servilla. Although it was built in 1929, it looks like new building (or palace or park). From my research, one of the scenes of the Star Wars II – The Attack of the Clones was held there. Huhuhu.. Another cool thing about this place is that it contains the mosaics which represent all 50 provinces in Spain. At first I thought that the mosaics symbolize important people in Spain history, but after looking through the internet I find out that it was just my wild guess. Huhuhu..

I found the Cathedral “La Giralda” picture after coming back from the vacation. I discovered that it was also used to be a masjid- Masjid Almohad of Sevilla. T-T

the pedestrian way is in the middle of the road.. kind of strange..

We were a bit shock when we arrived at Granada. It is because we could not book the train to Barcelona because it was already full. In addition to that, we could not communicate with the ticket seller because of language barrier. They confidently talked to us in Spanish as though we were born there. Thank God, we were able to get the ticket early morning the next day after using all kind of sign languages to communicate with the customer service. Huhuhu..

at the entrance                                       one of the castles

The main attraction in Granada is its Alhambra Palace. It contaians a lot of castles. They used to be Muslims’ property  until the Christian invaded the place. Nowadays, it has become tourist place where they would be a lot of locals and foreign tourists queue in a long row just to get the ticket. The entrance is limited to a certain amount of visitors each day, for safety and security reason.

In some part of the palace, there are poems and phrase written on the walls to praise Allah and the rulers at that time.

The gardens are stunning. They still preserve these gardens very well.

Granada view from one of the castles..

On the way back from Alhambra, we met an Arab guy named Hamzah. He owns a souvenir there. Although his English is not good, he tries to tell us about the Muslim magnificent technology that still remains a secret until today. It is about the Court of the Lions.

Fountain of the Lions.. Taken from wiki

According to him, the function of the fountain was as a clock. The fountain contained 12 lions and each of the lions represents a specific time. For instance, water would come out of the lion which represent one o’clock when it is really one o’clock and the water would come out of the lion which represent two o’clock lion when it is two o’clock and so on. It kept on changing 24/7. The engineers who built the fountain did not use any battery or machine but only using the flow of water to run the clock.

the western scholars cannot solve the riddle..

When the Christian invade Granada, they have called their scholars to investigate on the technology used to run the fountain. They dug underneath the chamber and failed to identify the way on how it works. When they put the lions back to their positions, the fountain was no longer working. Water came out from all of the lions’ mouth at the same time. They cannot solve the mystery until today.

the lions are no longer there.. the area is sealed to the tourists..

When we were at Alhambra, the lions are no longer at their place. Some of them are kept in the palace museum and some others are displayed somewhere else. Today’s Muslim engineer or engineer to be should feel challenged by these genius Muslim scholars who has made such a brilliant master piece. Maybe we should take some time to ponder about it. I’ve tried to google the web to find any clue about the fountain’s mystery but could not find any web which talks about the clock.. Porbably this they tried to hide their weakness to the world, by hiding the truth which lies behind these lions..

to be continue.. hopefully..

Summer vacation

I am quite lazy to start updating this blog. It has been months since last I wrote the post. These are some of the pictures that we took during our summer vacation.

Picnic at Hyde Park .          Changing some money  .  Sleeping at the airport

Once we arrived at London, we rushed to the MSD to get something to eat. The food there was able to remind us a little bit on how Malaysian cuisine really taste. The Cendol Pulut with Ice was just… ohh.. Luckily there was no Tapai.. or else.. ohh..

The crews, excluding me..

Madrid was just a transit for us to go to the southern part of Spain. We just hang around the train station waiting for the train.

On the first night in spain, we listened to the Flamenco songs although at first I thought flamenco was all just about dancing. I even thought that the spelling was flamingo, which was same like the bird, flamingo . huhuhu.. I was amazed by the guitarist skills. His fingers moved very fast from one key to another like an F1 car speeding on a straight circuit. The Flamenco songs reminded me of one of M.Nasir’s songs, Andalusia. Cordoba is in Andalusia territory.

This Mosque Cathedral was once claimed to be a Christian Tample. After Muslim’s territory expanded to Spain, it was rebuilt to make it as a masjid. Then, Christian invaded and modify the masjid to make it as a cathedral. For more pictures and info click here.

The amazing thing about this masjid (in the past) was that the imam did not have to use a microphone to make sure that everyone in the extra large masjid hear his voice. The secret lies in the construction of the mimbar and the wall around it which enable the sound to echo to the whole masjid. I do not think any other masjid or any building nowadays has this kind of technology. I only witnessed this technology demonstrated at the Planetarium in KT or KL or somewhere in Malaysia, I am not really sure which one was that.

Just besides the Cathedral is the Alcazar Palace. The palace itself does not amaze me, but the garden in it does. It is very colourful and has variety in styles in term of range flowers and the arrangement of trees. We could not finish walking around the garden and castle but we were still satisfied to be in a cool and green place for a while. The boiling heat outside of the area was really killing. The temperature nearly reached 40’C (plymouth temperature is just around 17’C) @-@.

To be continued.. hopefully.. huhuhu

overdue update

it seems sweet to update your blog when you are desperately need to study. yes it is indeed. haha. so last last weekend we went to Montgomery State Park for a picnic. A big one because there was about 8 cars. 8 times 5 = 40. 40 org melayu bersepah kat situ. hehe. alaa abah and maa, tmpat neh just like jeram pasu with a big fat river. hehe.

ni time mula2 smpai. sume menerkam food yg dibawa. We cook the food ourselves sbgaimana tugas2 yg dibagi oleh si ketua. haha. siap guna google docs tuh.. koya2. Mee goreng, spagetti goreng, macaroni bakar, cekodok hitam tp sedap, sandwich telur and sardin, ayam bakar, ikan bakar, kek bday jue, agar2 and whatever which i cant remember.

After that, we rented the paddling boat and enjoyed the cool refreshing crystal clear water. It is not only the coolness of water that we enjoyed, but also the excitement and laughter. Sangat bising Montgomery arituh with our voices teasing each other.

After that sambung makan lg. There’s a group of boys went fishing…..dan balik dgn gumbiranya. haha.

Playing volleyball in the water. waaah seronok, but I prefer laying on the green grass, watching. And after few minutes the world seemed dark. fell asleep.. hehe. “can sleep anywhere theory” is proven!

walaupon berada di dalam hutan, kewajipan tidak dilupakan…

and as usual it’s time for group photo. Nice one my dear friends..

haha, this is the last one. promise. heading back to Vandy and what so special about it? SYIKIN DRIVE! We learned how to drive together, from the very first step. and we took the driving test together. and the result was, i failed the easiest driving test on earth! genetic is the reason..haha.. and not to mentionlah, syikin passed with flying colors. tahniah dude. and tahniah goes to azni too for having your license back. I am proud of my housemate! (haih, bile nak proud dgn dri sndiri ni).

Need to get back studying, wish me luck for my final on Friday. chow~

“Hogwarts Express”. We saw this wierd train in this modern country during the journey.

I was in Cologne@Köln last week, my boss granted me 5 days off. So my buddy, Fahd and I decided to travel there. The plan was to meet up with other buddies all around Germany in Cologne. There were not too many people we can gather. But it was enough to make the apartment full. It was like a small gathering. Londeh, was the host. He works in Cologne. He has a big fat apartment in the great city.

For me and my buddies, this town will always bring to us wonderful nostalgia. Cologne is like our first girlfriend, literally speaking. It is hard for you to forget your first love. Cologne is where we lived when we first came to Germany. Cologne is where we applied our German language in real life for the first time. Cologne is where we tasted the cold winter for the first time. Cologne is where we tasted the first kebab. Cologne is where we learned how to cook. Cologne is where we learned to obey German weird rules. Cologne is where we felt how the taste of the real homesickness was. Cologne is where we figured that survival is our only friend. Cologne is where we figured that friends are our only family. Maybe this list can keep on going until this keyboard fell apart.

Many things we learned and experienced during those days. During those days, we enjoyed the best moment in our life. Some would say Cologne is like our ”Kampung halaman”. Maybe it sounds lame, but that is the way it is. The very moment I arrived at Cologne Hauptbahnhof, I already felt a goose bump on my skin. Maybe you can tell me why. By the way, it was good to be back.

To be continued…
